As a partner of Motheo TVET College Bloemfontein, we had the pleasure of inviting Lorraine for a three-day training session for the plumbing course at the Thaba Nchu Campus.The training proved to be incredibly valuable, engaging, and inspiring.

Lorraine brought a fresh and dynamic approach to the plumbing career path—highlighting opportunities in entrepreneurship and the wider industry that students typically do not encounter in the classroom setting.

Lorraine has an exceptional talent for motivating, inspiring, and guiding students. As a female professional in a male-dominated trade, she serves as a powerful role model—particularly for our female students—encouraging them to confidently pursue a career in plumbing. The impact of her visit was immediate and significant. The students were deeply grateful for the experience, gained new insights, and expressed a strong desire for further engagement. Busisiwe Zondo

I remember my very first virtual session with Ms. Mooi. With cameras off, she couldn’t even see me, but the first thing she asked was, “Who is Busisiwe Zondo?”

Naturally, I went on about my achievements and everything I had accomplished. She gently stopped me and said, “I didn’t ask you that, I asked, who is Busi?” In that moment, I was honestly angry and told myself that I didn’t want this lady to mentor me. But then she began to explain the importance of separating myself from my business and my achievements.

She reminded me to reconnect with the things I truly love and told me something that has stayed with me ever since — that I am accountable to two people in my life: the 6-year-old me and the 60-year-old me.

She broke it down in a way that made so much sense. From that day on, I began to remind myself of who I really am. Every time I am in spaces and people ask, “Who are you?”, I now confidently speak about what I love and what makes me whole — not just what I have achieved. Ms. Mooi gave me the confidence to be unapologetically me, and I have been flourishing ever since.

Beyond personal growth, she also mentored me in business. She gave me a practical guideline that allowed me to draw a clear roadmap for my journey. Her wisdom has shaped not only my confidence but also the direction of my business.

It has been, and continues to be, an amazing journey with her guidance. I always remind her how much I love and appreciate her because of the profound impact she has made in my life.
