Lorraine’s journey began with a diploma in Financial Information Systems and a powerful suggestion from her mother, Buyiswa Mooi, to explore plumbing. That moment sparked a journey of purpose, passion, and perseverance that transformed not only her life, but countless others.
Today, Lorraine is a recognised national voice in the fields of skills transformation, inclusion, and dignity through trades. She leads training initiatives, speaks at national conferences, and designs programs that deliver measurable outcomes across TVET colleges, corporates, and municipalities.

The Plumbing Duchess is built on a foundation of legacy rooted in family. At the heart of this foundation is Buyiswa Mooi, Lorraine's mother, whose wisdom and foresight played a pivotal role in shaping Lorraine's path and, by extension, the very existence of The Plumbing Duchess.
Lorraine's remarkable journey into plumbing, a career she has transformed into a national platform for change, began with a powerful suggestion from her mother, Buyiswa Mooi, after Lorraine completed her diploma in Financial Information Systems. This moment was the spark that ignited Lorraine's purpose and passion in the trades.
Furthermore, The Plumbing Duchess, officially established in 2024, grew out of years of business experience within family-led plumbing and construction enterprises. During these early businesses, Lorraine Mooi and her mother, Buyiswa Mooi, together built a legacy of service delivery across residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects throughout South Africa
